As part of the GO Stewardship Service, GO launched the Japan Engagement Consortium (JEC) in 2009. The objective of the JEC is to enable responsible institutional shareholders to engage through the consortium with the board and management teams of major Japanese quoted public companies in a ‘Japanese way’ to improve long-term shareholders’ returns.
The JEC is a joint venture between GO and one of Japan’s largest fund managers, Tokio Marine Asset Management (TMAM). It currently has 3 members: Railpen, USS and TMAM.
The JEC is staffed by investment, governance and engagement specialists from GO and TMAM, all based in Tokyo.
